Candy Corn Cake Pop Topped Cupcakes And
A McCormick Spice Spooky Squad Giveaway

McCormick recently asked me to be a part of their Spooky Squad, and share some of their (and my) fun Halloween ideas with my readers, as well as host a giveaway full of great Halloween baking goodies.  McCormick has a number of fun Halloween recipes up on their website and on their Monster Mash Pinterest board.  I decided to make their Candy Corn Cupcakes and put my own spin on them by topping them with Candy Corn Cake Pops.

You could whip up these or some other fun treats with your own Spooky Squad Kit from McCormick.

The candy corn cupcakes were very easy to make.  I followed the directions on McCormick for the cupcakes.   I made half of my cupcakes in the orange and yellow combo as the directions called for, then made the rest of my cupcakes in solid yellow and solid orange.   After baking, the solid color cupcakes were on their way to becoming cake pops (well, cake balls to be exact).   You can see how I make my cake pops in this post.

For each cake pop/ball, I would take a bit of the yellow cake and a bit of the orange cake and work them together.   The more you work them together the more of a marbled effect you will get.

After that they were dipped in chocolate coating, given a few sprinkles and topped with a candy corn.  The cupcakes were frosted with vanilla frosting and topped with some sprinkles as well (can’t really get enough sprinkles).

Yay for cupcakes, cake pops and candy corn!

Yum.

Ah love a cake pop topped cupcake!

To see how I make my cake pops, check out this post!  I mixed these ones with vanilla frosting and as usual I go by the consistency of the mixture versus a specific amount of frosting (as every cake/frosting is a bit unique).  I always start with a little bit of frosting and add a bit at a time to get to the desired consistency.

GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED! THANK YOU! I have another fun idea using the Spooky Squad Kit to share later in the week that is a great one to do with the kids (and no-bake!).  Would you like to win your own Spooky Squad kit from McCormick?  To enter to win Use the Rafflecopter Widget below to enter.  Open to US Residents only.  Good luck and thanks for entering!   A winner will be selected at random on 10/22/12.
