Do you have kids? Do you ever travel? Do you have friends or family, with children, who ever travel to visit you? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then this post is for you. I’m going to share an awesome baby equipment rental company that I wish someone would have told me about before I even had kids, because it’s that great.
Truth be told, we haven’t traveled very much as a family in the past two years. Why’s that? Well, we have a 3.5 year old who pretty much exists by routines. Many kiddos her are are the same way, but throw in some special needs, and something as simple as not having the correct pink fork for dinner can mean absolute disaster. She also wakes up a number of times most nights even under the best of circumstances. Add that to the fact that we probably aren’t the youngest of parents, and we REALLY need our sleep at night in order to be happy and patient mommy and daddy, and the thought of a trip with no sleep sounds like anything but a vacation. Our daughter has long since outgrown pack n’ plays, yet still sleeps in a crib at home. Her upcoming transition to regular bed gives me nightmares at home, so in a hotel? Um, no. Just no. That issue right there has put a major cramp in traveling. While I shove a lot into my mini van (yes, I can admit to driving a mini van- the magical opening doors make me happy), a full size crib and mattress just aren’t fitting into the back of it.
A few months back, our older daughter’s dance company was invited to Disneyland to perform a few numbers in the 2013 Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade on ABC (which, not to spoil the surprise or anything, is not actually performed on Christmas morning, though I tried to be festive and wore a green sweater). This was such a fun opportunity for her that we had to make it work.
I booked our trip ignoring the little issue of “where would G sleep???” until about two weeks before the trip, at which point I started freaking the heck out. This wasn’t just a leisure trip, our oldest would have very long days, starting with hair and makeup at 5am, followed by 7-12 hours of dance rehearsals and tapings, we’d be dealing with G in an extremely crowded Disneyland, not knowing how she’d handle it with her sensory issues, and all those factors together meant that getting sleep at night was not optional. That’s when I found Traveling Baby Company, a company that rents all kinds of gear for babies, toddlers and kiddos, including full sized cribs, strollers, car seats and high chairs. I called them, and they saved the day, the trip and most likely, my sanity.
Traveling Baby Company arranged to have a crib (complete with mattress and linens) delivered right to The Disneyland Hotel for me, which the bell desk not only brought to my room, but very quickly had put together (which is so easy, that G herself might have been able to do it). Before I had even unpacked a single suitcase, a full size crib, with my daughter’s pillow, blankie and favorite stuffed sleeping buddies, was set up and ready. Talk about peace of mind. That, as they say, is priceless.
We had our normal bedtime routine and G went down without any issue and slept wonderfully the entire night. While it might sound like I’m exaggerating, I’m not – I almost wanted to cry tears of joy that next morning.
There is no way a Pack N’ Play would have worked for our 3.5 year old. There was no way she’d sleep in a regular bed. Having a full size crib made all the difference for us. And meant a happy trip at Disneyland.
Traveling Baby Company has SO much more than just cribs, and they have locations all across the country. I *wish* I had known about them years ago. While we drive on most of our trips, I tend to fill the entire car with baby equipment (much to my husband’s dismay), or I end up running around some town I’m not familiar, trying to find and buy things like baby gates and bed rails because I thought we’d be okay without them, and we weren’t. Not a fun way to spend vacation time.
Traveling Baby Company has everything you can think of for traveling with the kids. Everything. I mean look at just some of the products they can bring right out to you while you are away from home, or can bring to you when you have friends or family with little ones visiting you. Traveling with can be hard, especially when they are in that toddler or preschool stage, or have special needs. Being able to get the equipment you need, delivered right to wherever you are, that is pretty awesome and can make a huge difference for everyone.
Even if you don’t have kids, if your grandchildren, nieces and nephews or family friends are coming for a visit for the holidays, how awesome would it be to have exactly what they need, ready and waiting? That my friends is one heck of a warm welcome. As a mom I know that having the right equipment when away from home, be it a high chair, swing, car seat, or baby gate, can literally make or break a trip. Even a four star hotel kind of sucks if you can’t get your kids to sleep at night.
Traveling Baby Company was so easy to work with. When we checked out of our hotel, we made sure to get the crib, mattress and linens back to the bell desk, with our name on them, and Traveling Baby Company picked them up after we checked out. As a mom I have so much to plan, orchestrate and remember when traveling, the ease of how Traveling Baby Company works was wonderful. A phone call (or internet request) and you are good to go. I can say with certainty they let our visit to the Happiest Place On Earth, be, well, happy!
Note, my daughter doesn’t typically go to amusement parks
in full make up. Only for dance dress rehearsals.
We all got some sleep and my oldest was able to perform a Christmas number in the Disneyland holiday parade and dance in two production numbers that you can catch Christmas morning on ABC-TV, Monsters University and Teen Beach Movie.
I can’t say enough about Traveling Baby Company. If you have a trip planned, or friends and family headed your way, make sure you head over to the Traveling Baby Company website or visit them on Facebook. They are incredibly responsive and helpful and will make sure to take good care of you. Don’t forget to tell them Love From The Oven says, “hi!”.
Disclaimer: Traveling Baby Company provided me a full size crib rental at no expense in exchange for an honest review of their company. All opinions are mine, and mine alone. From one mom to other moms, it’s very important to me to only recommend companies and products that I feel positively about!
