Looking for a way to add a little sparkle to your Fourth Of July desserts, treats and sweets? I have some super easy and oh so cute Sparkle Star Cupcakes for you. These are sure to make your desserts shine on the 4th of July!
How fun are these? Take your plain jane cupcakes (even store bought if you are in a pinch) and dress them up with Sparkle Star Marshmallow Pops and some sweet Bella Cupcake Couture Wrappers, and you have a perfectly pretty patriotic treat for the 4th of July.
I made these sweet little cupcakes as part of the “Sprinkles Will Fly ~ Cupcake Couture Blog Party”. More than a dozen bakers and bloggers are sharing fun cupcakes today to help give you some fun baking ideas for the Fourth of July.
And it’s not just fun cupcake ideas, you can also enter to win a sweet Prize Pack full of goodies from Bella Cupcake Couture, The Smart Baker, Lucks, India Tree and Pretty Party Details.
Before we get to all of that fun stuff, let me share a bit more about how I made these Sparkle Star Cupcakes. I started by baking a batch of white cupcakes (box mix!) and then frosting them with the most amazing white chocolate frosting recipe. If you like white chocolate, you must try this recipe, not only does the addition of white chocolate change the taste, but the texture is divine. Creamy yet holds up well to piping and decorating.
After frosting the cupcakes, it’s time to dress them up. Bella Cupcake Couture sent me their Olivia Silver and White Cupcake Wrappers. A lovely sophisticated print that is great for The Fourth Of July and would be spectacular for a wedding.
To create the glittery marshmallow star cupcake toppers, I used JET-PUFFED Jumbo Star Mallows, Sweets & Treats Boutique Silver Metallic Star Party Straws and some glittery “American Silver” disco dust. I have talked about disco dust in the past, and if you are looking to learn more about it, you will want to check out this post. I’m not sure disco dust is something anyone wants to consume a great deal of, but it certainly can give your treats some incredible sparkle and shine.
I cut my paper straws in half to make them cupcake size, dipped one end in white chocolate coating and then slid my marshmallow stars to the straws and allowed time for the chocolate to set up.
To adhere the disco dust to the marshmallows, I coated the front of each with a very light brushing of corn syrup.
I found that actually dipping the marshmallows into the glitter worked better than sprinkling it on. Sprinkling it on works, but it also means my kitchen ends up getting covered in glitter. It’s not the worst thing in the world, but it is a wee bit messy.
So easy! They look stunning in person and could not be easier to create. As I said, while the disco dust is non toxic, it’s probably not what you want to eat for lunch. I think it’d be fun to mix the glitter marshmallows with ones coated in sprinkles like these…
Simply add your marshmallow stars to your cupcakes and you are good to go. Not only would these make for a great dessert, but they would make a stunning centerpiece as well!
I’m seriously in love with these!
I kind of want to coat everything in disco dust!
I have to give you this yummy white chocolate frosting recipe!
