Tender green beans in a rich and creamy mushroom sauce, topped with plenty of crispy, golden fried onions, make this Campbell's Green Bean Casserole a classic Thanksgiving side dish.
Start by preheating the oven to 350°F. In a 1.5-quart baking dish, add the cream of mushroom soup, milk, and pepper, then whisk well until combined. Fold in the green beans and ⅔ cup of crispy fried onions.
Bake the green bean mixture in the oven for about 30 minutes, or until hot and bubbling. Remove from the oven and stir well.
Top the hot green bean mixture with the remaining ⅔ cup of crispy fried onions. Bake for 5 more minutes, or until the topping is a nice golden brown.
Let the casserole sit for a few minutes out of the oven before serving. Serve warm and enjoy!
*The classic recipe calls for 1/2 cup milk. We like our casserole a bit creamier, so I use 3/4 cup of milk. You can absolutely use 1/2 cup milk if you want a thicker texture.
**See notes in post above for details on using fresh or frozen green beans in place of canned.
Doubling: This recipe can easily be doubled, or tripled!
Storage: Keep the leftover French's Green Bean Casserole in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
