Crockpot Steak Bites

Tender cubes of juicy steak marinate in the crock pot for hours in a silky, savory, beef au jus. Serve over a bed of rice, creamy mashed potatoes or some of your favorite vegetables for a complete, satisfying meal the whole family will love.

Ingredients
 

  • 3 lbs sirloin steak (cut into bite sized pieces)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 oz au jus mix (1 packet)
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 2 tablespoons garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional )

Instructions
 

  • Cut your steak into small, bite size pieces. Season the cubes with regular salt and black pepper.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat add the small pieces of steak and sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side. No need to cook them all the way through. Once done, transfer the steak to the slow cooker.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the au jus mix, beef broth, onion, minced garlic, and Worcestershire sauce. If you like spice, add red pepper flakes.
  • Pour the broth into the slow cooker. Stir with the steak to combine. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  • Once done, serve the steak with your favorite sides and top with some of the au jus. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!

Notes

The Au Jus alone isn't very thick, it comes out soup-like. If you'd like to thicken the sauce, you can make a cornstarch slurry. About 30 minutes before serving, mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water or beef broth. Add this to the crock pot and stir. While it cooks, you should see the sauce thicken.
