Dark Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder I like to use dark cocoa, but regular is fine
  • 1 and 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup yogurt vanilla or coffee flavored work well
  • 3 large eggs room temperature
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tbsp brewed coffee or water make sure it has cooled slightly, warm is okay, but you do not want it hot
  • 1 9.50 oz bag Dove Dark Chocolate Silky Smooth Promises - unwrapped and divided, about 2/3 of the bag chopped and 1/3 of the bag unwrapped and set aside.

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a large bowl, combine cocoa, both sugars, salt, flour and chopped Dove Dark Chocolate Promises (about 2/3 of the bag). Add in yogurt, eggs, vegetable oil, vanilla and coffee (or water). Stir until just combined, do not over mix.
  • Scoop batter into an 8x8 or 9x9 pan that has been lightly sprayed with cooking spray. I prefer to line my pan with foil, then spray the foil, as this makes it easy to remove the brownies from the pan, slice and serve.
  • Bake for approximately 35 minutes for an 9x9" pan or 45 minutes for an 8x8" pan. To check if they are done, place a knife or toothpick into the center. When you pull it out, it should still be a little moist, but starting to bake up.
  • Remove from oven an allow to cool in pan for at least 20 minutes.
  • When ready to serve, place remaining Dove Dark Chocolate Promises into the bottom of a zipper style sandwich bag. Place in microwave and microwave on 50% power for 30 seconds. Remove from microwave, and "knead" chocolate in bag (even if melted it may hold it's shape until you do this). If more melting time is needed, return to microwave and heat for another 15 seconds on 50% power. Repeat this process until chocolate is melted in bag. Slice brownies into into individual pieces, and place on serving plates. Clip off a bottom corner edge of the bag (only about 1/4" wide at most) and drizzle melted chocolate over the top of brownies.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!
  • Note: Melted chocolate does not return to a solid state at room temperature, so it's best to add melted chocolate just prior to serving.
