Ingredients You’ll Need

This is a discussion about the ingredients. For the actual recipe with amounts, please see the recipe below.
- Mayonnaise – Instead of egg yolks and oil, this will be the base of the dressing. (which is basically all mayo is anyway) Use low-fat if you’d like, or use a homemade mayonnaise recipe. Using mayo instead of eggs helps the dressing last a few days longer.
- Garlic – While fresh garlic is ideal, you can use jarred garlic, or the little frozen garlic cubes – just thaw them first.
- Anchovies or Anchovy Paste – This is what gives a Caesar dressing that classic brine-y, salty flavor. I don’t recommend it, but you can leave this out if you’d like. If you do, add a bit more of the Worcestershire sauce.
- Parmesan Cheese – I think it’s really important to use freshly grated parmesan cheese for this one.
- Lemon Juice – Fresh squeezed is great, but bottle will work as well. Don’t leave this out, it adds a bit of acid to the flavor combo and really helps balance it.
- Worcestershire Sauce – This helps add a savory, salty flavor to your dressing.
- Dijon Mustard – The mustard adds a tangy little punch to the mix.

Step 1: Combine all ingredients in a bowl.

Step 2: Mix until well combined and creamy.

Christi’s Tips For Success!
While you can use this dressing immediately after making it, it really tastes best when it’s had some time to chill. If you can make it a few hours (or days!) prior to using, it allows the flavors to really come together.
Ways To Use Caesar Dressing
- The classic – a Caesar Salad!
- My favorite twist on Caesar Salad is Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad
- It makes a great marinade for chicken.
- Use it in place of mayo on sandwiches.
- Spread it on garlic bread, you’ll thank me for it!
Storing Caesar Dressing
Store tightly covered for 5-7 days in the refrigerator. I like using a mason jar for this as it seals it tightly and is easy to grab a spoonful out of. Make sure not to double dip from the container, even if you are the only one using the dressing. It can introduce bacteria which will shorten how long it lasts, and run the risk of food borne illness.
