I think I made it clear just how much I LOVE the Babycakes Cake Pop Maker, and today I’m going to share how I make Babycakes Donut Holes with the Babycakes Cake Pop Maker. Donut holes! At home! One of our favorite desserts is donut holes with chocolate and caramel dipping sauces. If you have never dipped a donut hole into some caramel sauce, trust me, do it. Oh my word, it’s GOOD.
To make donut holes, you really follow the same steps as you would follow to make cakepops. I tried a few recipes, but hands down the favorite recipes in our house were the ones that came from the Babycakes.
BABYCAKES DONUT HOLES RECIPE
Babycakes Donut Recipe
- 1⅓ cups all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- ¼ cup sour cream
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.
- In separate bowl whisk together remaining ingredients, except glaze or topping.
- Pour liquid ingredients into dry ingredients. Using a mixer on medium speed, blend until smooth.
- Fill each cooking reservoir with about 1 tablespoon of batter.
- Bake about 2 to 3 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into donut comes out clean.
- Glaze or coat with powdered sugar or cinnamon-sugar, as desired

I think they have done a great job of developing recipes that work extremely well with their products. Both my husband and daughter said they preferred these to Dunkin Donuts (fried) donut holes. You can whip these up quicker than you could run to Krispy Kreme, and because they are not fried, they really are a great choice if you are going to have donut holes.
Here’s a quick visual of how I created these donut holes…
I made a simple glaze for mine – powdered sugar, a splash of vanilla and enough milk to get it to the consistency that I wanted. I poured my glaze into a pan and then rolled my donut holes around in the glaze, then set them on a rack to let the extra drip off. I think adding some maple instead of vanilla would be a great alternative. You could also roll them around in powdered sugar, cinnamon and sugar, whatever you like.
Even better with some dipping sauces!

Nope, the powdered sugar should stick, especially if they are still warm.
I added 1/4 c. cocoa powder to the basic recipe.

Agreed. Loved the consistency of the batter, but the donut holes were very bland. I’d make them again, but would add mini cinnamon or choco chips. Thanks.
What a great recipe.
Mine worked out perfectly and were delicious. I rolled the warm donut holes in cinnamon sugar = delicious and authentic texture and flavour.
This was a practice run for me before making them with my grandson.
Next time I’ll try the glaze.

It looks like they took the recipe down unfortunately. Since this was written ten years ago, I’m afraid I can’t begin to remember what it was.
I made these and are very simple, but lack flavor. Will try adding some flavoring next time. Other than flavor they are great.

My daughter wanted cake pops for her birthday and I did it the hard way with a pan in the oven. Then the men in the house were looking for dough nut holes and I found this. Excellent, easy recipe. The texture is great. This is definitely going into my recipe box.
