Ingredient Info

ingredients to make candied bacon crackers
  • Club Crackers – Club crackers are arguably the best crackers known to man, and perfectly bacon sized. If you don’t have club crackers, I recommend using Ritz crackers, saltines, or even graham crackers if you want to add a little extra sweetness to this recipe.
  • Bacon – The thicker the cut, the better! You don’t want the slices too thin or else they’ll burn or become too crispy. Any flavor of bacon works well with this recipe, so if you have a favorite, go with it!
  • Brown Sugar – Either light or dark brown sugar will work!
  • Seasoning – Highly recommend getting the Kinder’s “The Blend” – Salt, Pepper & Garlic Rub for this recipe. However, any kind of peppery garlic rub / seasoning will work for this recipe.
  • Provolone (Optional) – This is totally optional, but, adding a piece of provolone on top of the cracker and underneath the bacon totally elevates this recipe to another level!

Step by Step Instructions

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 375°F. Grab an oven safe wire rack and a large baking sheet and place the wire rack on top of the baking sheet. Doing this will allow the bacon grease to drip off, while preventing the crackers from becoming soggy.
  2. Lay out your bacon onto a cutting board, and cut each piece into 4 even slices.
  3. Place the club crackers evenly on the wire rack. Leave about 1 inch of space in between each cracker.
  4. Place a slice of bacon on top of each cracker.
  5. Grab a small mixing bowl. Add the brown sugar and the salt, pepper and garlic rub to the bowl and mix to combine.
  6. Sprinkle even amounts of the brown sugar topping on top of each bacon covered cracker. Make sure the bacon is evenly coated.
  7. Bake these in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp, yet tender, and the top is caramelized. Make sure to watch these carefully to ensure they don’t burn. Remove them from the oven and allow them to cool for 5 minutes. Serve and enjoy!

Tips & Advice

Storage – Store the leftover crackers in an airtight container or baggie in the fridge for 3-4 days. You can reheat these, but they taste fine when chilled or at room temperature.

Candied Cracker Variations

Again, provolone is a great addition to this recipe when added underneath the bacon. Plus, you don’t have to change the recipe in any way. You can also use other cheeses like cheddar, gouda, or pepper jack for a sharper cheese flavor!

If you like spice, it’s also very common to bake a jalapeño slice on top of these crackers. Just press a thinly sliced jalapeño into the middle of the brown sugar coated bacon and bake as normal!

Didn’t use provolone , did sprinkle red pepper flakes after it left the oven ; may try jalapeno slices too subbed 1/2 tsp salt, tsp pepper, tsp garlic powder for mix came out delicious!

  4. If you’re going to include Provolone as optional, It would be helpful to describe how to use it. Does it go on top of or underneath the bacon on the cracker? Thanks.
