Ingredient Info
- Gin – I recommend using your favorite brand of gin. I used the Four Peel brand. If you don’t have any gin, the closest substitute would be vodka. Also, feel free to use any flavored liquors that you think would pair well with lemon & honey.
- Lemon – I think freshly squeezed lemon juice is best for this cocktail. You’ll also want to have some lemons on hand for the optional garnish of a lemon peel. If all you have is bottled lemon juice that works as well.
- Honey Syrup – Any brand of honey syrup will work for this recipe. If you don’t have honey syrup, you can make your own, or substitute for a simple syrup instead.
Step by Step Instructions
- To a shaker, add ice. Pour the gin, honey syrup and lemon juice over the ice. Shake for 1-2 minutes, or until chilled.
- Strain the drink into a chilled glass. Serve with a garnish of lemon peel and enjoy!
Tips & Advice
How to Peel a Lemon Garnish
If you’re handy with a pairing knife, you can just slice an even strip of lemon peel and twist it into a spiral, or slide the knife as you rotate the lemon in your hands to create a natural spiral shape. (Be careful!) If you’re not confident doing this with a knife, you can use vegetable peeler instead.
Equipment
For this simple recipe, all you’ll need is a cocktail shaker, and a glass to serve it in!
FAQs
Yes absolutely! Vodka would be the closest substitute for gin in this cocktail.
I don’t recommend doing this, the honey will clump up in the cocktail when cold. Instead, you can sub simple syrup for honey syrup, or make your own honey syrup.
