How To Make Christmas Magic Cookie Bars

These bars only require a handful of ingredients. Let’s discuss what you’ll need, and the steps you’ll take, to make these bars. My goal is to provide you with information to help you be successful when making this recipe in your kitchen. If you want to skip my discussion, tips, information and answers to frequently asked questions, just scroll to the bottom for the full printable recipe.

Ingredients

  • Non-stick cooking spray – Another option is to grease the pan with butter.
  • Graham cracker crumbs – You can buy crumbs or make your own from graham crackers.
  • Butter – Salted butter is my preference, but unsalted will also work.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk – Make sure you use sweetened condensed and not evaporated milk.
  • Chocolate Chips – Semi-sweet work well, as milk chocolate can be a bit too sweet in this recipe.
  • Sweetened Flaked Coconut
  • Holiday M&Ms – Feel free to get creative with the different flavors and colors of holiday M&Ms that are available.
  • Sprinkles – These are optional, but you can add sprinkles for an additional pop of color.

Directions

  1. HEAT oven to 350°F. Coat 13 x 9-inch baking pan generously with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. COMBINE graham cracker crumbs and butter in small bowl. Press into bottom of prepared pan. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumb mixture. Layer with coconut, chocolate chips, M&M candies and sprinkles (if used). Press down firmly with fork.
  3. BAKE 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Allow to cool on a wire rack for at least one hour. Cut into bars, serve and enjoy.

Tips

  • Store bars tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to five days.
  • These bars are quite rich, letting you get 24 servings out of a batch.
  • To make it easier to remove bars from pan, line entire pan with foil, using enough foil that it extends over the sides. Coat with non-stick cooking spray. After baking and bars have cooled, entire pan of bars can be lifted out of the pan by using the foil edges to lift out.
  • Wait to cut bars until they are completely cool.
