Peppermint Kiss Cookies are soft and chewy with the perfect amount of peppermint goodness. Transform ordinary sugar cookie dough into a crowd pleasing Christmas cookies with this easy recipe!
Reasons You’ll Love This Recipe
Made with Sugar Cookie Mix – I love baking from scratch but sometimes you can’t beat the convenience of baking with mixes. It works perfectly in this Peppermint Kiss Cookie recipe.
Easy and Beautiful Cookies – Making cookies look holiday-ready has never been easier. Instead of decorating with frosting and sprinkles, you just press a Hershey’s Kiss onto warm cookies. Instantly beautiful!
Stay Soft for Days – We use sour cream in the cookie dough to keep the cookies soft, even several days after baking!
Freezer Friendly – These Peppermint Blossom Cookies freeze well so you can keep a stash on hand for any last minute Christmas parties or surprise guests.
You can never have too many sugar cookies on your Christmas baking list. This variation on a classic peppermint sugar cookie features a Hershey’s Candy Cane Kiss pressed into the center.
I love nibbling on the soft minty cookie, then getting to enjoy a creamy white chocolate peppermint candy in the middle! Similar to a peanut butter blossom cookie, this is a fun cookie to add to your Christmas Cookie line up!

- Sugar Cookie Mix – While I have lots of from scratch cookie recipes on the site, this one lets you doctor up a sugar cookie mix. Holidays are hectic, and nobody will even guess that you had a helping hand when making these! I used the 17.5 ounce Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix, but you could use other brands as well.
- Butter – I prefer salted butter in this recipe, but you can use unsalted as well. Make sure it’s softened.
- All-Purpose Flour – Since we are doctoring up the mix, flour is added.
- Sour Cream – Sour cream gives cookies an absolute melt in your mouth texture.
- Large Egg – Make sure it’s a large egg. Lately eggs seem to be suffering from shrinkflation, so double check your size.
- Peppermint Extract – These cookies have a wonderfully minty flavor, but if you’d prefer you can replace the peppermint extract with vanilla extract, or even almond extract.
- Candy Cane Kisses – While Candy Cane Kisses are perfect for this recipe, get creative and use any variety you would like! Make sure to unwrap these and have them ready to go before you pull the cookies out of the oven.
How To Make Peppermint Kiss Cookies
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl using a hand or stand mixer, mix the sugar cookie mix, salted butter, flour, sour cream, egg, and peppermint extract together until fully combined.
- Use a 1-inch cookie scoop (1 Tablespoon measurer) to drop cookie dough balls on the prepared sheet pan, leaving 1 inch between each cookie.
- Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes or until the edges start to turn golden brown.
- Quickly remove from the oven and press one peppermint kiss into the center of each cookie while the cookie is still warm.
- Let cool for at least five minutes before plating and serving either warm or cold.
Recipe Tips and Advice
Storage – You can store these cookies on the countertop for 2-3 days if covered tightly. Otherwise, you can store them in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. If you individually wrap these cookies, you can set them in the freezer for 3-4 months.
Prevent Sticking – If you don’t have any parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, you can use cooking spray for these cookies and then wait for them to cool down completely before removing them from the sheet pan.
Sweet Little Cookies – Peppermint Kiss Cookies tend to be smaller than other cookies, so make sure that you don’t make your cookie dough balls too big, or they will spread too much and you will end up with giant cookies.
Creative Cookies
Feel free to get creative with these cookies! You can swap the peppermint extract for vanilla extract or even almond extract. When it comes to Kisses, there are so many fun and seasonal options. You could make these with Hot Cocoa Kisses, Cookies ‘N’ Cream Kisses, Sugar Cookie Kisses, Dark Chocolate Kisses, Mint Truffle Kisses, or even Cherry Cordial Kisses!
