You can still buy pumpkin pie spice at the store ready to go, or you can make your own homemade pumpkin pie spice.

What is in pumpkin pie spice?

There’s a good chance you might have the ingredients to make pumpkin spice right in your pantry!

Spices In Pumpkin Pie Spice:

  • Cinnamon
  • Ginger
  • All Spice
  • Clove
  • Nutmeg

One of the benefits of making a DIY pumpkin pie spice mix is that if there is a spice you really don’t love, you can skip or reduce it.

In my personal opinion, the critical spices are Cinnamon, first and foremost, then Ginger and Nutmeg.

On more than one occasion my pumpkin spice has only consisted of those three ingredients.

Clove and Allspice are not my favorite, so I often cut back on or even omit them.

How Do You Make Pumpkin Spice?

Making pumpkin spice could not be easier. You simply combine your spices and stir to mix together.

I like to store mine in a small glass jar. Another option for storage is to reuse an old spice container. And a good old fashioned Ziploc sandwich bag also works.

What Do Use Pumpkin Spice In?

There are so many recipes that do or can use pumpkin pie spice!
