Ingredient Info
This is a discussion about the ingredients. For the actual recipe with amounts, please see the recipe below.
- Sour Cream – Like lots of dips out there, we will use sour cream as the base. If you’re looking for some extra protein, you can use greek yogurt instead, just know it will affect the taste a bit.
- Cream Cheese – Make sure the cream cheese has softened at room temperature for a few hours before using it in this recipe.
- Dill Pickles – The most important ingredient! You can use whatever brand you like the best, just make sure to save the juice from the jar. While the recipe calls for a cup, you can add more if you like!
- Fresh Dill – You’d be surprised at how much flavor fresh dill adds to this recipe! I don’t recommend swapping this with different herbs.
Step by Step Instructions
- Dice up the pickles into smaller pieces. Set aside. In a large bowl, whip the cream cheese with a hand mixer or a wooden spoon until the consistency is smooth. Once smooth, add the sour cream and mix until combined.
- Add the worcestershire sauce and garlic powder and mix to combine. Fold in the diced pickles and fresh dill until evenly spread throughout the dip. Lastly, add the pickle juice and mix everything together until well incorporated.
- Taste the dip and add any extra seasoning, or more pickles/pickle juice if you’d like. Once it’s to your liking, let it marinate in the fridge for at least an hour.
- Once it’s done marinating, take it out of the fridge and serve with all your favorite dippers! Enjoy!
Tips & Advice
Christi’s Kitchen Tips
Picking The Right Pickles: There are pickle perfectionists out there, so if you’ve tried them all, use your favorite in this dip. I used the Mt. Olive brand, but Claussens, Vlasic, or Grillos are all great options. You can even use homemade pickles!
You can also try making this dill pickle dip with bread and butter pickles for a sweeter, tangier taste.
Storage – Storage: You can store this dip in the fridge for about 3-4 days. I don’t recommend freezing this.
Make Ahead – You can absolutely make this dip a few hours or even the night before serving it. In fact, it will taste even better!
Equipment
For this recipe, you’ll need a cutting board, a knife, a mixing bowl and either a hand mixer or wooden spoon.
FAQs
I’ll leave it up to you to decide what’s healthy for your body or not. To make this dip a bit lighter, you could swap the sour cream for greek yogurt, and use a whipped or low-fat cream cheese instead of regular cream cheese.
Try letting it sit in the fridge for a bit longer to allow the cream cheese to harden up. To avoid it from getting too thin, try adding less pickle juice and combine until you reach the consistency you like.

Dill Pickle Dip
Ingredients
- 8 ounces sour cream
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
- 1 cup dill pickles chopped (you can add more if desired!)
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1/2 tablespoon fresh dill chopped
- 1/4 cup Dill Pickle Juice
Instructions
- Chop pickles on a cuttingboard. Set aside.
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to beat the the softened cream cheese until it becomes smooth and creamy. If you're using a hand mixer, start on low speed, increasing speed as the cream cheese further softens.
- Add sour cream to the cream cheese and mix until well blended.
- Add Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder, mix well to combine.
- Fold in the chopped pickles and fresh dill. Stir to combine.
- Add pickle juice. Start with 1/4 cup and mix well. If you would like a stronger pickle flavor, you can add more pickle juice to taste. Just don't add too much at once, no more than a tablespoon at a time.
- Place dip in a bowl and cover with a lid or wrap. Place in refrigerator to chill for a least one hour. This lets the flavors come together and dip to thicken up slightly.
- Serve with chips, pretzels and fresh vegetables.
