Ingredient Information

Ingredients to make Fruity Pebbles Treats
  • Fruity Pebbles Cereal – Fruity Pebbles is the star of the show! You can absolutely use a generic or store version if you desire. You could also use Marshmallow Fruity Pebbles, or even Cocoa Pebbles for a deliciously chocolate treat. Get creative with your Fruity Pebble Treats!
  • Marshmallows – I really prefer using the miniature marshmallows as they melt quickly and easily. Make sure they are fresh and soft, as that will give the best end result.
  • Butter – Salted butter is recommended, as I think salt in a sweet recipe like this really helps balance the flavors. That said, unsalted butter is totally fine to use as well.
  • Salt – As just mentioned, I think salt really helps balance out the sweet. You can skip it if you want, but I really feel like it enhances the overall flavor in these Fruity Pebbles Treats. Kosher or sea salt are both great options.
  • Vanilla – Whenever possible, use pure vanilla extract.

Step By Step Instructions

If you’ve ever made rice krispies treats, you know just how easy they are to make. And if this is your first time making cereal treats, you’ll love how quick and simple these fruity pebble rice crispy treats are to make.

  1. Butter or lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan, or line the pan with parchment paper. If desired, you can use binder clips to help hold your parchment paper in place.
  2. STOVETOP – Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Once the butter is melted, add the marshmallows, reserving 1 cup of marshmallows for later, and stir to coat well. Continue stirring until all of the marshmallows are melted, then remove from heat.
MICROWAVE – In a large mixing bowl melt the marshmallows with the butter by heating for 1 minute on high heat. Continue heating in 30-second increments, stirring between heating, until the marshmallows are fully melted.
  3. Stir in vanilla and salt, then add the Fruity Pebbles cereal and the remaining 1 cup of marshmallows. Carefully stir the ingredients together until all of the cereal is coated with the melted marshmallow.
  4. Transfer the cereal mixture to prepared pan, then using a buttered spatula, gently press the Fruity Pebbles mixture into an even layer. Do not over-compact or treats will come out flat – you just want to spread the mixture out to fill the pan. Set the Fruity Pebbles Treats out and let them cool for at least an hour before slicing and serving.

Tips and Advice

Storage: Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 days. They can be stored for longer, but they will start to harden. Treats can be wrapped tightly and frozen for 2 months, just make sure they are fully cooled prior to freezing.

Wrap It Up: For optimal freshness, wrap each treat tightly in plastic wrap, then store in an airtight container or Ziplock style freezer bag.

Freshness Matters: Using fresh, soft marshmallows really does create the very best Fruity Pebbles treats.
